There is no doubt that the iPhone is a beautiful thing and everyone knows that beauty is fragile, delicate and fleeting so you have to wrap it up, keep it snug and out danger. Right?
Maybe. It all depends on your lifestyle. If you’re a rugged type of individual whose last cellphone ended up being held together by duct tape then you’d probably find a sturdy leather case extremely useful.Nutshells - leather cases designed for a range of
smartphones - are nothing if not practical. The sturdy stitching and thick leather
will no doubt protect your device for eternity - or at least until the iPhone’s
next generation, iteration, evolution or whatever they call it when Apple upgrades
a device.
It has a leather strap with a magnetic fastener which closes
with a satisfying snap. It has a leather covered metal clip so you can hook it
onto your waistband in front.

And back.

Handy if you’re the kind of person who likes to wear your
cellphone.
But where the iPhone is a sleek, sophisticated device, the
nutshell feels thick and a little homespun.
Don’t let our aesthetic judgement be the last word on the nutshell
(which incidentally is available for a range of devices). There are plenty of
people happy to rave about it in print – you can check out the testimonials on
the website. There’s also a blog where the kiwi designer writes about his
efforts to create a possum-lined iPad case.
And we do like the sense of humour of the inventor. On the packaging there is a quirky disclaimer: “Our Guarantee does not cover any nutshell that has been used while (or for) putting out oil field fires, deflecting bullets or shielding from bomb blasts. It rules out bear mauling, Rottweiler attacks and hungry rats. Nor will a nutshell protect its contents when driven over, dropped from a dizzying height, or trampled by buffalo. Your nutshell will survive but the contents most likely won’t.”
