The agency that created the advertisement, Special Group, won eight of the 31 Gold Awards, including the top award, for the campaign. Orcon also won an award for Creative Business of the Year. The AXIS Awards are organised by the Creative Agencies Association (CAANZ) and last night marked the 30th anniversary of the Awards.
The Iggy campaign, officially titled ‘Orcon + Iggy, Together Incredible’, involved a group of amateur musicians in New Zealand playing the song ‘The Passenger’ with Iggy Pop over a broadband connection. The kiwi musicians were scattered around the country, while Iggy was in a studio in Florida.
ConnectMe featured an indepth behind-the-scenes look at the campaign in the January edition of NetGuide. This is not high-end production technology; this is bedroom computers.”
