More than 1000 iPhone users are surfing on the XT Network since the company offered a $600 subsidy to entice them into a postpaid contract in July.
Telecom’s deal, launched on July 14th, offered a $600 account credit to all iPhone users who signed a 24-month One Rate 180 plan for $79.95 a month. The $600 subsidy effectively made the cost of the iPhone similar to what it would cost Vodafone post-paid customers.
However, as was pointed out on www.iphonenewzealand.co.nz when the latest iPhone upgrade was released, the new 03 3.1 wont support tethering on devices not run on “Apple-authorised” mobile networks. A blow for XT Network and 2degrees iPhone users.
